Are there futures trading classes in Hawaiʻi?
Yes, but most futures education for Hawaiʻi traders is online, because the markets are online and their hours are set on mainland time. You can start free with the CME Group education courses and the CFTC's Learn and Protect pages, then pick a paid program only after you check who teaches it. Hawaiʻi Trading Academy is a Hawaiʻi-based, online, education-only academy run by two futures traders.
Where can I learn futures for free?
Start with the exchange and the regulator. They teach the basics, and they do not sell you a course.
- CME Group Education: free courses on futures, margin and contract specs.
- CFTC Learn and Protect: how to spot fraud and check a firm.
- HTA Futures 101: six short free lessons written for Hawaiʻi traders.
- The Hawaiʻi Futures Cheat Sheet: contract values and HST times on one page.
What should I check before I pay for a class?
Check that the teachers trade, that nobody promises income, and that you can see real lessons before you buy.
- Do the teachers trade the market they teach? Ask how.
- Does anyone promise income, returns or a high success rate? Walk away.
- Is there a free sample, and a clear refund policy?
- If a person or firm offers to manage your money or trade for you, look them up on NFA BASIC first. The CFTC says to verify registration before you work with anyone to trade futures.
What does HTA offer?
HTA offers free lessons and guides, and paid online memberships. HTA teaches process: risk first, then strategy, then the mental side of trading.
Free: Futures 101, Prop Firms 101, the Psychology Guide and the Position Size Calculator. Paid: the Net Alpha memberships. HTA is an education company. It does not manage money, and it is not a registered investment adviser.
Do I need an in-person class?
No. Futures trade on screens, so the skills are the same online. What matters is a teacher who reviews your actual trades and your plan.
