1% Weekly Beats 10% Daily: The Math of Sustainable Trading

The Long Game: Why 1% Per Week Beats 10% Per Day

November 2026

The boring path is the profitable path. And the math proves it.

Every trader talks about making 10% in a day. The traders who tried that are gone. They blew accounts. They quit. Meanwhile, the traders who aimed for 1% per week are still trading five years later with multimillion dollar careers. This is not motivational. This is math.

The Math of 1% Per Week

1% per week = 52% per year, compounded. That's 67% annualized compound growth. On a $50K account, that's $83,500 in one year. By year three, $235,000. By year five, you've crossed $500K. The timeline is boring. The outcome is not.

But here's the part most traders miss: 1% per week assumes you don't blow up. That's the real edge. The math only works if you survive.

Why 10% Per Day Fails

10% per day requires perfect execution 20 times in a row. At 60% win rate, the probability of 20 consecutive trades without a major drawdown is 0.6^20 = 0.000036. That's 1 in 27,000.

What actually happens: You make 10% on day one. Your brain floods with dopamine. Day two you oversize. You hit a losing streak. You blow 20% in two days chasing losses. The average lifespan of a 10%-per-day trader is about 90 days.

The Behavioral Multiplier

The more pressure you put on yourself to hit big returns, the worse your execution becomes. The worse your execution becomes, the faster you blow up. This is the behavioral multiplier.

The 1% per week trader doesn't have this problem. They hit 1%. Great. They miss 1%. Okay. Same execution. Same rules. That stability compounds.

The Long Game Is the Only Game

The traders who last are the ones who didn't try to get rich quick. They aimed for 1% per week. They built systems. They stuck with them. They compounded. Five years later, they're rich. Actually rich. Not gone.

The long game looks boring from the outside. But on the inside, it's the only game that works. Patience is an edge. Boredom is a feature.

Your Choice

You can chase 10% per day and probably blow up in 90 days. Or you can aim for 1% per week, build a system, trade it for five years, and be rich. Actually rich. The traders who last chose the second path.
